You will need to study if you want to pass your permit exam. The Rules of the Road book (PDF) tells you everything that you need to know to pass the exam. In order to help you, there are 8 three-minute videos on this site that show you things like where to stop before a crosswalk and different road signs.
Permit exams are given at your local transportation office. This is information for your local office regarding days and times you can take your exam.

Road Tests: By appointment only.
Written Tests: No appointment needed. Arrive no later than 1 hour prior to noon and no later than 1 hour prior to closing.
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Photo sites will be closed on the following holidays:
- New Year's Day, January 1
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the third Monday in January
- President's Day, the third Monday in February
- Good Friday, the Friday preceding Easter Sunday
- Memorial Day, the last Monday in May
- Independence Day, July 4
- Labor Day, the first Monday in September
- Veterans' Day, November 11
- Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in November
- Christmas Eve, December 24 (offices close at noon)
- Christmas Day, December 25
If January 1st, July 4th, November 11th or December 25th falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be the holiday. If these holidays fall on Saturday, the preceding Friday is the holiday.
